All of the above! This tour is both a dark history/true crime tour AND a ghost tour.

In addition to the spirits who still lurk in the historic buildings of downtown Louisville, we’ll regale you with horrifying true stories from Louisville’s checkered past. You’ll find out why Louisville’s nickname was once the “Graveyard of the West” – and hear horrifying stories which are deeply researched and entirely true.

Please meet your tour guide 15 minutes before you tour begins, at the entrance to the Belvedere Plaza at 5th & Main – here is the Google Maps link. Your guide will be standing at the base of the lamppost to the right side of the walkway if you’re facing towards the river, back to the street.

See the photo below to help you find the meeting point, circled in red. (The big green sign is no longer there.)

The Belvedere cannot be accessed by car, so you’ll need to find parking nearby. Metered street parking is free after 6 PM, but may not be easy to find. There are plenty of paid garages in the area, and here is a map of the paid garages. The tour will end at Jefferson Square Park about a 10 minute walk from where it began, so parking in between the two spots is ideal.

Meeting point on the Belvedere Plaza for Whispers on Whiskey Row

You’ll end at Jefferson Square Park, about a 10 minute walk from where the tour begins on the Belvedere. We’ll make sure you know how to get back to your car!

Your ticket includes a cocktail at a haunted historic bar (mocktails, beer, or soda also available). You will select your drink from an exclusive set menu – ordering off-menu will be at your own expense and peril.

This tour does not include food. Snacks are available for purchase at our second bathroom stop.

Note that we do offer food and cocktail tours – our Phantoms of Prohibition tour in particular is similar to this one, with a focus on Prohibition and ghosts, plus four Prohibition-era cocktails and bites.

We know, we know! The heart wants what the heart wants… and our hearts led us straight down into a bunch of research holes full of fascinating, spine-tingling stories that we NEEDED to share, but that don’t necessarily fit on any of our food tours. You know, because nothing kills an appetite quite like grisly true crime details… In addition, by offering this tour without food, we’re able to make it shorter, run it later at night, and keep the price in a more affordable range.

But hey, we’re not entirely depriving you – your ticket includes a cocktail from an exclusive set menu in a historic haunted bar on Whiskey Row! (Beer, soda, and mocktails also available.)

If you prefer your ghost stories with a side of food and 4 delicious cocktails, take a look at our Phantoms of Prohibition tour.

This tour covers true history that may be disturbing or upsetting for certain age groups. The tour also includes 1.5 hours of standing and walking. You know your kiddos best, but we suggest a 12+ age minimum. Kiddos 2 and under are always welcome to join our tours for free.

We try to time our tours to begin around sunset and end after dark. However, it does depend on the time of year and your specific tour start time. For instance, during the winter, 8pm is dark as midnight; but in summer, it might as well be midday! In mid July, the sun will still be setting around 10 PM.

To ensure a spookier ambiance, book the latest tour time available.

Yes. We will make two stops: first at a haunted bar for a cocktail, and a short bathroom stop midway through the tour at a small market where drinks and snacks are available for purchase.
