Our Values in Action

Our Commitment to Equity, Sustainability & Community

At Louisville Food Tours, we believe that great food and great stories have the power to build stronger communities. From the tours we design to the businesses we support, we are committed to ethical tourism, inclusivity, and reinvesting in the people and places that make Louisville special. Here’s how we give back and create a more sustainable, equitable, and community-driven experience for all.

Community First Approach

Giving Back: Community Support & Charitable Giving

We believe in actively contributing to the well-being of our city.

01

Since our founding in 2022, we’ve donated thousands of dollars to over 50 local non-profit organizations and charitable fundraisers, supporting causes ranging from healthcare and education to social equity and the arts.

02

We tip 20% on every tour to front-of-house staff, ensuring fair compensation for hospitality workers who help make our tours great.

03

We pay our team above living wage, because equitable pay is a core value of our business.

EQUITY IN ACTION

Equity, Inclusion & Representation

We are committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of our business—from the stories we tell to the people we hire and the communities we collaborate with.

Weave the stories of marginalized and underrepresented communities into our tours, ensuring that Louisville’s full history is shared and not just the dominant narrative.

Develop niche tours in collaboration with local communities, such as our LGBTQ+ History Tour and Black History Tour, to celebrate diverse voices.

Hire inclusively and welcome team members from all backgrounds, ensuring our company reflects the community we serve.

Uphold a zero-tolerance policy for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, or discrimination of any kind on our tours.

FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE

Sustainability: Reducing Our Environmental Impact

We know that tourism can have an environmental footprint, and we’re taking steps to reduce ours:

  • Walking tours = zero emissions. Our tours are designed to be car-free, making them an eco-friendly way to explore Louisville.
  • We partner with Stripe Climate to donate a percentage of every dollar collected through Stripe to carbon removal and climate technology initiatives.
  • We use reusable, recycled, and compostable materials for all of our products, gift bags, and boxes to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Tours for Everyone

Inclusivity: Making Our Tours Welcoming for All

We’re committed to ensuring that every guest, regardless of ability, age, or background, feels included and has an amazing experience!

Audio headsets make our tours more accessible for hearing-impaired guests, and we provide scripts upon request.

All of our tours are wheelchair-friendly, ADA-compliant, and fully accessible. Guests can move at their own pace rather than staying close to the guide, making our tours more inclusive of different physical abilities.

We welcome families on select all-ages tours, and kids under 2 always join for free.

INVESTING IN Louisville

Supporting Local: Keeping Money in Our Community

We believe in using our platform to uplift the makers, businesses, and artisans who make Louisville special. As a local and family owned business, we believe in supporting other local businesses at every opportunity. Keeping money in the community strengthens our local economy, creates jobs, and helps Louisville remain a vibrant place to visit and live.

Most of our tour stops are at locally owned restaurants and bars, so our guests experience authentic Louisville flavors while helping independent businesses thrive.

02

We reinvest in our local economy by sourcing office supplies, team meals, and company outings from small businesses.

03

Our gift items are all locally sourced, featuring products from Kentucky-based creators, producers, and artisans.
