6 Places to do a Murder Mystery Dinner in Louisville, KY
Louisville is a theatre-loving city. We love the drama of a good show (hello, ostentatious Derby Hats!) and dabbling in a little (fictional) murder. With a town full of talented actors and drama-loving locals, it should come as no surprise that there are several companies in town ready to provide an entertaining evening full of riveting riddles, crime sleuthing, and of course, a delicious dinner.
In fact, in Louisville, you can solve murder mysteries on foot, on a boat, or even on a train. We’re a little bit like the murder mystery version of Green Eggs & Ham, but with way better food. So, here are 6 places to do a murder mystery dinner in Louisville, KY!

Louisville Food Tours Murder Mystery Food Tour
Locally owned, award-winning Louisville Food Tours is the only company in town that offers a murder mystery dinner in the form of a walking food tour! You’ll gather clues with each “round” of delicious food and drinks at three beloved local bars, speakeasies and restaurants (and yes, your ticket includes a full meal AND cocktails).
Unlike other murder mystery experiences, the Murder Mystery Food Tour is more of an interactive game than live theatre. At the start of your tour, you’ll be given a role —you may well end up the victim, or even the murderer.
Yes, y’all: this is the only Murder Mystery Dinner in Louisville, KY where YOU play a character! So if you’ve always wanted to host a murder mystery dinner party but it sounds like a whole lot of work, let Louisville Food Tours handle everything. Just round up your most dramatic friends, put together an on-theme costume (over-the-top and ridiculous outfits are strongly encouraged) and prepare to commit to your character as you immerse yourself in the fun and drama.
Each season, the theme and location of this Louisville whodunnit changes, so you can hone your murder mystery solving skills again and again. Be sure to bring your sleuthing skills – everyone has secrets to hide, and no one is above suspicion – even you!
WhoDunnit? Murder Mystery Theater
WhoDunnit? Murder Mystery Theater offers a whole slew of different kinds of murder mystery shows. You’ll find seasonal offerings from ghost stories, holiday musicals, mystery cabarets, courtroom dramas, comedies, costumed extravaganzas set in the 1920s and 1930s, and even Ye Olde Murder Mysterie, a Druidic mystery set in the year 1007. Is the real mystery how they can think of so many different murder mystery concepts?
During a three course meal, you’ll have the opportunity to solve the mystery using carefully crafted clues included in the staged action and get to chat with the characters themselves to find out additional information.
WhoDunnit? Is a local non-profit and prides itself on taking the murder mystery genre deadly serious, so you know you’re going to get a well-thought-out riddle to solve!

The Belle of Louisville Murder Mystery Dinner
Enjoy a delicious meal and a show on the waters of the Ohio River aboard a 2-hour cruise on the historic Belle of Louisville. Bask in the ambiance of travel of yesteryear while enjoying a fabulous meal, and of course, trying your best to solve the mystery during a Murder Mystery Dinner Cruise!
The Belle goes all out with their storylines, as there is only ONE of these events per year. Their latest murder mystery show is set in 1943, where the boat is serving as a USO party vessel. The star of the show is a flirtatious cabaret singer named Ruby Belle Castle who has garnered a lot of enemies – but luckily Detective Philip Merlot is aboard to help solve the crime.
The Dinner Detective
The Dinner Detective has a slightly different approach to murder mystery dinner theatre. At their comedic murder mystery shows, located at the Embassy Suites Louisville Downtown, the actors are not dressed in costume but hidden in plain sight in the audience! You truly never know if the person next to you is the murderer – or someone just enjoying the experience along with you. Trust no one.
The show includes a full plated dinner and plenty of shocking surprises. Crack the case and you might even win a prize! So put your Sherlock Holmes hat on.

Bardstown Murder Mystery Train
Wind through the gorgeous landscapes of Kentucky while enjoying a riveting 2.5 hour murder mystery – on a train!
On the Elegant Bardstown Murder Mystery Train, you can come live your Murder on the Orient Express fantasy (except with way less murderers, probably) and enjoy a gourmet four-course meal while trying to solve the mystery. Over 3 acts you’ll meet all sorts of characters, but who of the bunch is the one who committed the crime?
